Happy New Years, everyone! Today, we have for you a very special episode that first aired over thirteen years ago: Episode 118, a one-hour Hattori special! This classic has long been a fan-favorite and we are glad to bring it to you today, at the DCTP standard!

This episode has special meaning to me, personally, as well. Some of you likely already know this, but this was the first episode that I ever fansubbed, all those years ago. In fact, the last time that I worked on this episode… was 6 years and 8 months ago! It was quite nostalgic to go at it one more time, so I hope those that were around back then will enjoy it even more this time around.

2011 may just now be coming to an end, but we already have big plans for 2012. In addition to releasing every new weekly manga file and anime episode, as usual, we intend to continue our re-subbing efforts on both the old episodes and the movies in HD. We also plan to continue work on the Conan vs. Kindaichi game for Nintendo DS, which is coming along nicely. Beyond that, you can expect a special one-off manga from us in January (one of which we intended to release this week, but still need a little more time with). We’ll also be opening another poll soon to decide one of our next re-sub projects, so please check back shortly and give us your input.

Nonetheless, this release marks the end of the inaugural Big Release Week, with eight releases in seven days. We had a lot of fun working all of these releases out and hope you’ve had a good time watching them over the past week. The DCTP staff will be taking a one-week break from all projects beginning today (given that we have already released the next manga file and the anime is on break this week as well). Thanks for all the support this year, we truly appreciate it!

After much deliberation, we have decided to go ahead and release this episode (yes, it’s the one that aired a day ago). Yesterday, we also released 636, which was originally meant to be paired with 637 for a double release, but due to a problem that arose, that episode had to be delayed slightly. We had already moved onto working on episode 638 by the time the problem came to light, and with this episode being finished quite quickly, we had to make some considerations. After thinking it over, we’ve decided to go ahead and release this episode instead of holding it back while we sort out 637.

Naturally, given that this is the first part of a two part anime original case, it’s quite safe to watch already. However, if you’re a completionist that has to watch everything in order, you won’t have to wait too long for the previous episode. Hang in there, we’ll make it worth your while either way!

Beyond all that, let us take this moment to note that this episode was our 250th Conan episode release! Thanks for the support, let’s aim for 250 more together!

In between time working on the latest episodes, we have been working on a special project that will be made available before you know it. For maximum hype, we aren’t saying more than that, but feel free to speculate to your heart’s content!

We have some big plans for the future that we are confident will satiate the appetites of those that have been looking forward to… a certain something…

That time of year has finally come for Detective Conan fans the world over. After just over a week of very intense work, DCTP is ready to release the 15th and latest movie from our beloved franchise for all to enjoy. Many, many hours went into making this release what it is, so we are hopeful you will like it!

This movie, it should be noted, has more lines than any other Conan movie to date (it has nearly 200 more than Movie 14, which was already quite long). Overall, the script is equal to roughly six or seven episodes of the TV anime combined. Everyone worked all hours of the day over the past week to bring this out in the highest possible quality we could, but our time with Movie 15 isn’t over just yet. For today, we have the SD versions (in both XviD & H264, as usual), but next month—at the end of November—the Blu-ray will be released in Japan. As soon as it is available, we will begin work on making available both 720p and 1080p versions.

Oh, and speaking of Conan movies, we aren’t forgetting about the others, either. We recently released a DCTP version of Movie 8, Magician of the Silver Sky, in full 1080p (along with 720p and SD editions) and of course did the same for Movie 14. To ensure the highest possible quality version of each and every Conan movie is made available, DCTP will be doing new translations and new work for all of the movies we have not yet released. That’s right: we will be re-translating all of the movies we haven’t already and will be releasing them in SD, 720p, and 1080p. Next up is… the first movie, The Time-Bomb Skyscraper! You can keep up with that project here on the forums and put in your vote for which you’d like to see after that in this topic! DCTP has always been about producing definitive releases, and that’s exactly what we plan to do when it comes to the movies, both new and old!

Earlier this year, we also made good on our goal that many considered impossible of seeing that every episode of the Detective Conan anime was available subtitled in English. We will continue to work on older anime episodes in need of updated versions to ensure that, eventually, there will be a definitive Conan collection available in only the highest quality.

Of course, DCTP is dedicated to seeing both the anime and the manga through to the end. We will continue to do all of the latest anime episodes and manga files at the quality you expect to ensure English Conan fans are always up to date and up there with the best of them.

Detective Conan Movie 15: Quarter of Silence — Coming Soon!

It’s that time of year again, when the hype levels exceed capacity and Conan fans from all over the world begin counting down the days to when they will be able to finally view the latest movie from the comfort of their own homes. We’ve brought you the annual movies promptly, in the highest quality we could muster, every year since 2008 when we released the twelfth movie. All the while, we have also done every single weekly anime episode and every single manga file in order to ensure the English Conan community was up there with the best of them and never fell behind. Earlier this year, we also accomplished our longtime goal of seeing that every last old episode of Conan was subtitled in English for all to enjoy. That same dedication you have come to expect from us after these hundreds of releases will be carried over to our work on this movie, and with your support, we can make it a Detective Conan event for the ages! We’ll be counting on you!

We have been quite busy lately planning new projects now that all of the episodes are subbed, but the time for this release has finally come. Today, we are finally ready to release Movie 14 in HD! Due to key staff being tied up over the past school semester, we were unable to finish it on our original schedule. At last, that is no longer a concern! You can now enjoy Movie 14 in both 720p and 1080p from the team here at DCTP. Of course, if you missed the SD version a few months ago, you can always check that out now as well. The International Edition of this movie is still underway too. You can discuss this release here, on the forums!

To view the 720p and 1080p version of this movie, you will need to update your codecs if you have not already. We recommend downloading either the latest version of the K-Lite Codec Pack or the Combined Community Codec Pack. The installation of both is incredibly simple and streamlined. If you do encounter any issues, do not hesitate to request assistance on the forums where we will do our best to help you.

Movie 14 is not the only Conan movie we’ll be releasing in HD—in fact, we will be releasing ALL of the movies in both 720p and 1080p. For the movies that were not direct DCTP projects (all but 12, 13, and 14), we will be releasing SD, 720p, and 1080p editions. These projects will utilize new translations and resources that were unavailable to the original teams all those years ago. For Movies 12 & 13, we will not be releasing new SD versions but instead just 720p and 1080p ones. After Movie 15 becomes available on Blu-ray, we will make a very prompt release of it in both 720p and 1080p as well—there will be no delay akin to this one.

As some of you have no doubt heard, we are officially making the translation of the Nintendo DS game Detective Conan vs. Kindaichi a priority. For those unfamiliar, Kindaichi Hajime is an anime and manga detective of comparable popularity to Conan. This game is one that saw their paths cross for the first and only time. Ultimately, our goal is to create an entirely English edition of the game with nothing left to spare. We have already made great strides in this project, and you can now view a fifteen minute sample via our YouTube channel.

In closing, I can confirm that another HD movie will be released this month. As for what day…
